COVID-19 Response

Advance Memphis is continuing to fulfill our mission of empowering our neighbors in South Memphis to establish economic stability through Christ during the Covid – 19 outbreak. While our classes are postponed, we are serving graduates virtually and through our Staffing and Warehousing Services. As we listen closely to the changing needs of our neighbors, we are trusting God to help us develop unique strategies for supporting our individual graduates. Rather than a blanket emergency relief program at this time, however, we are committed to providing emergency relief assistance within the context of relationship. 

 Advance Memphis is providing support through:

• Subsidizing wage loss due to COVID-19 Outbreak related circumstances
• Work opportunities through Advance Memphis Staffing & Warehousing 
• One on One Coaching
  • Job coaching– navigating roadblocks, resumes and job applications
  • Small business coaching- remote sessions to entrepreneurs
  • Money management coaching- Important particularly during this time of economic uncertainty and stress for our neighbors.
  • High School Equivalency- E-learning opportunities for students to continue pursuing an HSE diploma which leads to improved work opportunities.
• Creating online resources and tools to promote economic stability.
• Volunteer mobilizing to provide groceries and emergency support for vulnerable neighbors (in Partnership with First Evangelical Church)

How You Can Help

• Pray – Signup to receive our regular prayer updates here
• Reconnect with graduates – Now is a GREAT time to connect with members of your previous Champion or Ally groups. If you need an updated phone number,

• Give an Uber ride to work – Public transportation is a serious challenge for working graduates right now. A $24 donation or Uber gift card on average, provides one working             graduate a safe ride to and from work for one day. Gift cards need to be in $20 – $50 increments please
• Join the Care Team – Join us in calling our 165 seniors and people feeling particularly isolated. Commit to weekly phone check-ins
• Share skills – We are seeking volunteers to share their expertise in marketing, video editing, business development etc. 
• Provide protection – We are currently collecting disposable masks and gloves for graduates working through Advance Memphis Staffing Services
